LAPIP

When the tissue around a dental implant becomes inflamed, the post can loosen, threatening the stability of your restoration and your smile.

The LAPIP™ protocol uses advanced laser technology to eliminate infection around the implant and encourage regrowth of soft tissue and bone.

So why choose LAPIP?

The LAPIP Protocol

Is Highly Effective and Minimally Invasive

Improved Implant Health

Infection around a dental implant can cause tissue loss and affect the stability of your implant-supported restoration. Treatment with LAPIP can regenerate lost tissue for a more secure foundation and a healthier smile.

Greater Comfort

Compared to traditional methods of treating peri-implantitis with scalpels, LAPIP involves less discomfort, both during the procedure and throughout recovery. The advanced laser can restore implant health without incisions or sutures.

Quick, Effective Treatment

LAPIP typically requires one two-hour visit and most patients recover within 24 hours. Conventional treatment for peri-implantitis involves removing diseased tissue over four hour-long sessions and multiple follow-up visits. In some cases, bone grafting is also necessary.

LAPIP Can Save You the Cost

of Replacing Your Implant

Dental implant revision surgery is a complex procedure which can cost upwards of $3,000. The LAPIP protocol is the only FDA-approved treatment for avoiding implant failure. The final cost of LAPIP will depend on several factors, such as the number of appointments you need and how many dental implants require treatment. While insurance does not generally cover treatment with LAPIP, the cost of this procedure is significantly less than replacing a failed implant.

The cost of LAPIP is MUCH LESS than implant revision surgery

Let’s break down this treatment further...

Prevent Implant Failure

and Protect Your Oral Health

LAPIP is generally performed under local anesthesia and requires one to two appointments of around two hours each. During a typical LAPIP session, your doctor will:

  • Use the PerioLase® MVP-7™ laser to vaporize bacteria, diseased tissue, and other debris inside the periodontal pocket.
  • Remove contaminants from the surface of the implant using an ultrasonic scaler.
  • Gently modify bone tissue, if necessary.
  • Reinsert the laser to eliminate any remaining debris and encourage a blood clot to form around the implant.

As you heal, the stem cells from your bone naturally promote tissue regeneration. This encourages your tissue to reattach to the implant post and form a more stable connection.

I’m not sure about receiving such a new treatment. Do I have other options?

Avoid Costly Revision Surgery with LAPIP

Before the LAPIP protocol, the most common treatment for severeimplant failure was removal and replacement of the restoration. The process for replacing a failed implant is complicated and requires multiple treatments, including implant removal, a bone graft, and placement of a new implant. Typically, a new restoration is needed as well. In less complex cases, conventional treatment can focus on removing damaged tissue but this option still requires several appointments and follow-ups. In contrast, treating peri-implantitis with LAPIP typically requires only one visit and can save you time and money

Peri-implantitis is a serious condition which can threaten the stability of your smile. The best way to find out if you qualify for the innovative LAPIP protocol is to schedule an appointment with a dentist.
